Mr. Sands retired from the Norwich City School District in 2012, where he taught Orchestra and string lessons for twenty two years. His students participated in All County, Area All-State, All-State and NYSSSA orchestras. His Orchestras also regularly received Gold and Gold with Distinction ratings at NYSSMA Major Ensembles Festivals. Before moving back to the capital district, he had been teaching private lessons again for the past three years. Mr. Sands has been a NYSSMA string adjudicator for 29 years and regularly performs as a violinist, vocalist, and percussionist.
