Hello everyone! I am Kyle Smith, a local music educator and musician. I grew up in California and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA in Music Education. I've taught in middle schools and high schools throughout northern Nevada and California. My primary instruments are Trombone and Piano, but through my experience teaching, I've learned how to teach any typical band instrument. I've performed with world renowned musicians such as Elizabeth Pitcairn with her famed "Red Violin", Joseph Alessi, the principle trombone of the New York Philharmonic and instructor of trombone at the Juliard School of Music, as well as studio trumpet musician Wayne Bergeron, famous for playing alongside Maynard Ferguson and in movies such as the Incredibles. I have performed with many groups across Nevada and California such as the Azores Band of Escalon out of California, the Reno Wind Symphony, the Susanville Symphony as a paid musician, the Uptown Brass Quintet, and have recently joined the Colonie Town Band. My goal as an educator is to ensure that students have FUN on their instruments while growing as a musician. I teach music to help students find ways to express themselves and acquire professional skills useful in both music and life outside of music.
