Doug Esmond, a native of Albany, has been teaching both privately and in group settings in the area for the past 25+ years. His main Instruments are Piano, Organ, Guitar and Voice and he also plays and teaches several other instruments as well; including Ukulele, Mandolin, Banjo, and Electric Bass. He received his Bachelor of Music Theory and Guitar Performance at Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y. Doug has a wide array of performance experience, including as a soloist and ensemble work for Weddings, Restaurants and other events, a pit musician who has worked in many of the local theatres in the area including the Palace, Capital Rep and the Park Playhouse, and as a band member in the local music scene. He is also heavily involved in the Organist and Music Director for Holy Family RCC. He has a large amount of experience with diverse musical styles. He also is active as a composer and arranger with many books and pieces to his credit, including: “Jazzical” (A fun combination of Classical Favorites in a Jazzy style) for Piano/Guitar, Hymns and Spirituals for Fingerstyle Guitar, “A.S.A.P” Classical Guitar Method , and “I-rish you a merry Christmas!”. Doug’s teaching style is fun, exciting, inventive, and personalized for each student he works with.
