Music has been a big part of my life since I started playing trumpet in 5th grade. After pursuing my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, I have taught dozens of students in a wide variety of settings. I taught general and instrumental music at two high schools in Rochester, moved to Troy and did a variety of substitute teaching, and most recently worked as a teaching artist in the CHIME program through the Empire State Youth Orchestra. I also teach brass lessons at Music & Arts in Latham. As an educator, I strive to deliver culturally responsive student-centered experiences that allow the student to explore music they care about with my support, encouragement, and authenticity. In addition to my work as a teacher, I am a passionate freelancing musician, currently performing in three different bands. I play trumpet in a New Orleans-style funk band, and I play drum set in an indie rock band and a blues/alternative band. My interests in songwriting and music production also tie into my work in the Albany music scene.
